4 year meet-a-versary

4 years ago today, I met Kaden Canfield. Can you believe that 4 years later he's still with me AND he's still sane? If I was living with me, I would have gone insane long ago. Thanks for sticking with me Kade!

Relief Society Broadcast

I heart fall

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE fall and I'm so excited that its here! What makes it even better is not stressing about homework. I have loved spending the evenings outside the past few weeks because it feels like fall.

This fall I have been depressed though. I love fall decorations and I've been seeing all of these great ideas on the internet. The only problem is that I am craft challenged. I can't do a craft to save my life. So if anyone has any ideas to get my out of my craft illiteracy, that would be great.

P.S. I DON'T sew, and I don't know if I ever care to be patient enough to learn.

You're not wearing any pants!

If you like to wear leggings, you may or may not be offended by this post. I'm not writing this to offend, I'm writing this to state facts.

Fact #1- This is what I consider to be the most important fact of leggings: Leggings are NOT pants! I don't care how you try to justify it; skin tight, paper-thin, see-thru material does not constitute pants!

Fact #2- I don't care how long you think your mini skirt or shirt is,its not long enough. No one needs to see your religion because you think your skirt and shirt is long enough.

Fact #3- Leggings with "long" shirts and short skirts are not appropriate to wear to church OR to the Temple for that matter. Just don't do it.

Fact #4- Leggings are just fine if the piece of clothing you are wearing on top of them covers your religion.

This is my rant of the day.

Fair Time

I haven't made any posts in a while because my life just isn't that interesting. However, next weekend is the Cassia County Fair and Rodeo. Everyone, who is anyone attends this earth shattering event. In fact, there are three of us in my ward that are from Burley, and all three of us are planning on going. Now, I can't say that I love this event 100% of the time (mostly because it brings back awful memories of high school), but I do love going to the rodeo with Dad. Plus this year is the 100 year anniversary of the Cassia County Fair so you would have to be crazy to miss it this year. So, Happy Anniversary Cassia County Fair! Hope this year is great.

Wedding Pictures

So, I wasn't that happy with our wedding photographer. Said photographer just wasn't up to par and didn't edit any of our photos. So I took a CD of our photos to a friend and he did an amazing job sprucing them up! The problem is, now I need to decide which ones to print up. Any suggestions?

House of the birds

The other night as Kaden and I were going to bed, we had the window open enjoying the nice summer breeze. Just as we are about to drift into unconsciousness, we hear the most annoying bird chirping ever. It sounded like a demented squeaky toy--over and over and over.

Now I can sleep through just about anything so I wasn't bothered much. But after about 15 minutes Kaden sits up and says "I can't take it anymore!!". So Kaden goes and grabs a flashlight to shine outside to find the culprit.

To our surprise, guess what we found? A baby owl!! After that, the sound didn't bother us much.

Yellowstone Extravaganza

As you can see, our trip was a blast!

I'm on my way to being a grown-up.

Welp, I was offered the job that I applied for. Despite my completely irrational fear, I decided to take it. I start July 1st as a conservation planner for Box Elder county, Utah. I even get my own cubicle in the booming town of Tremonton.

Basically my job is to work with local farmers and ranchers in developing plans for more efficient farming practices. I write up the plans, and then go back periodically to ensure that they are implementing the plans correctly.

I'm more terrified than anything else right now, but it will be good to have a change.

I don't want to be a vet

The rumors are true. I was able to witness my first horse castration yesterday. It was oddly interesting. And I was able to get an anatomy lesson. But, I'm pretty sure that I will never, never be a vet.

There's been an uprising!

Saturday afternoon Kaden and I went on an extravaganza to purchase fluorescent light bulbs for our kitchen. We went to get in the car when I saw a fresh bird poo on our windshield. I couldn't figure out how the heck that was even possible seeing as how we are lucky and our car is housed in a garage. Well, low and behold, I look up to see a magpie in the rafters of our garage.

Great, not that I could hate magpies anymore than I already do. This stupid magpie won't fly down to get out of the garage, it will only fly up around the rafters. So Kaden gets a broom and starts throwing it like a javelin at this stupid magpie. Not to injure it, mind you, but to knock it out of the rafters so we can shoo it out of the garage.

After 45 minutes of master javelin throwing, three poops, and several angry words, Kaden gets the bird knocked out of the rafters and shoos it outside. Well, now the bird won't fly away (we may or may not have broken its wing. The jury is still out on that one). So Kaden gently scoops the bird up onto a rake and hurls it into the nearest tree. The wind catches it and it gently and safely glides onto the branches. I continue watching the bird as it tries to fly out of the tree. Yeah, it drops like a rock onto the ground. Kaden and I decide to go buy our lightbulbs and see if it is still there when we get back. Good news, it was gone when we got back.

Ok, now to the brutal uprising part of this story. For the past few days we have been hearing a magpie (I SWEAR its the same one) angrily squawking in our yard. I kept telling Kaden that he was gathering an army to attack us.

Last night, we come home from feeding the horses and I count THIRTEEN magpies. And those were just the ones on our lawn. I look into the trees, and they are EVERYWHERE. Then they start swooping down and flying to different trees just to creepily stare at us. And now, I'm scared to go outside because I'm pretty sure that they are going to peck me to death.

So, the moral of the story is, don't throw brooms at magpies. They WILL uprise and you WILL die.

I'm a real grown-up

I'm officially a real grown-up. I had a job interview today for my first REAL job. I don't know if I like the feeling of being grown-up quite yet.

Facebook

Ok, ok. I broke down. I reactivated my Facebook account. The good news is, I went through and deleted everyone who isn't family. Ok, so I kept a few friends (mostly from the ward). My new goal is to not spend too much time on it. Just enough time to steal pictures from Natalie and Shanna.

Meal Planning

So tomorrow I am teaching our Relief Society about meal planning. I already have some great ideas thanks to Brittany (thanks a TON Brit!). If you have any of your own ideas, let me know.

Rain

The rain made my day, because that means I don't have to work in the yard when I get home.

Post Graduation

Since graduation, Kaden and I have been thoroughly enjoying our time. Who knew how enjoyable evening could be with no homework? Its been lovely. I thought that we might be bored with no homework, but I think we'll be okay. We have PLENTY of yardwork to do and lots of fun things on our schedule.

Vacation

I really can't complain about life right now, there are so many good things in my life. But, do you ever have one thing in your life that isn't going as planned and you can't help but dwell on it? Well I do. And I don't think that I've ever needed a vacation more in my life.

Naturally, Kaden agreed and when we tried to plan days, we couldn't come up with one that would work. All the dates that worked for him, wouldn't work for me and vice versa (the good news is that most days wouldn't work for Kaden because he just got an amazing job!).

So for now, we will have to count weekends as our vacation. I suppose yard work isn't that bad...

Elections Week

This past week has been elections week at USU. Let me just say that I've never quite grasped the concept of student leaders at a university. It might be just me (and it probably is) but I've never seen them do anything useful. Besides the fact that they raised the stupid athletics fee by $65 last year. Thanks a lot for the kick in the pants USU student leaders.

So, happy Friday for this day marks the end of annoyingly incessant campaigns.

Twittering and Squirreling

This weekend, our stake had the opportunity to have M. Russell Ballard speak at our conference. I feel so blessed that I was able to hear his words of wisdom and his council. He really hit the internet hard and counselled us to evaluate the time we spend on the internet. I believe his words were something to the effect of "...re-think the time you spend twittering and squirreling." He did say however, that if we have a blog, to use it to speak more openly about the church.

I really got to evaluating what I spend my time doing. I've decided to cut back on a lot of things that I do on the computer. Blogging probably won't be one of them. However, I am contemplating the deletion of my Facebook account. Facebook is a horrible thing for me. I usually just look up people that I don't even particularly care for and compare their lives to mine. How horrible is that? Plus I don't really even update anything on Facebook anyway. I suppose that this is me just speaking out loud but I think I need some encouragement to finally delete my stupid Facebook account. Thoughts?

January Blues

I have the January blues. Does anyone have suggestions on how to make this a happy month? I'm especially gloomy since homework comes back on Monday. Suggestions would be fantastic!
